What is Float Tank Therapy?
Float Tank Therapy is a form Restricted Environmental Stimulus Technique (R.E.S.T.) The Float process consists of literally floating in a tank of water completely saturated with Magnesium Sulfate (Epsom Salt). Approximately six pounds of Epsom salt for every gallon of water.
This high density solution forces a person to float at the surface of the water, effortlessly. No need to paddle or hold your breath, just allow physics to keep you afloat.
This unique experience takes away the effects of gravity on your body. Allowing the joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and connective tissues to completely relax, as they no longer need to work against the effects of gravity. The joints can decompress. The spine elongates. Often decreasing or eliminating pain in these areas.
Add to this, a significant reduction in sensory input to facilitate relaxation of the mind, and provide a reset to the nervous system. The lights are reduced or off completely. Sound is minimized or eliminated. The water in the tank is 95 degrees, which matches your outer skin temperature.
This matched temperature takes away the perception of hot or cold, decreasing this input into the brain as well. An environment well suited to promote improvements in pain, recovery, sleep, anxiety, PTSD, addictions, circulation, and much more.
Why Float at Integrated Functional Health?
We literally built the float experience at Integrated Functional Health from the ground up. From having a deeper understanding of the science and physiology of what is going on during and after a float session, to custom building one of the largest floatation tanks available, which allows for a broader range of applications. We also have the ability to measure biologic markers and responses in both the brain and body to monitor progress and success. At Integrated Functional Health we also have the largest selection of additional services in house to further enhance the benefits of Floating.
Benefits of Float Tank Therapy
Pain Reduction
Floating removes the stresses of gravity on the body. Taking pressure off of joints, muscles, tendons, and other connective tissues.
Decrease Anxiety
Constant sensory overload is a key contributing factor in the symptoms one may experience with anxiety. By reducing the sensory input to the nervous over an extended period of time, many of the symptoms often associated with anxiety are significantly improved.
Improved Sleep
Many people who float, and even more that float on a regular basis, report a dramatic improvement in their sleep patterns. This further contributes to reductions in pain, anxiety, and depression.
Relieves Tension
By allowing the muscles to really relax, tension can just fade and melt away. The reduction in sensory input and relaxation of the brain and nervous system further enhances tension reduction.
Improves Circulation
In a weightless environment such as that found while floating, the muscles can truly relax, allowing the joints to decompress. Pressure is relieved from blood vessels that may have been compressed. Better blood flow means less pain and improved function.
Improved mental clarity, focus, & creativity
The reduced sensory environment in the Float Tank allows the brain and nervous system an opportunity to “reset” and restore your mental and emotional balance. The benefits from this improvement in function are too numerous to list here.

Success Stories
"I had struggled with chronic pain for years. I have been to multiple doctors and specialists. Years of pills, injections, chiropractic, physical therapy, massage. Some of these would provide some temporary relief, but nothing i tried would let me return to an moderately active lifestyle. Until I floated. Pain is minimal now, and I am back to living my life. Thank You so much."
Charity
"Floating saved my life!!! I had suffered from PTSD for years. Severe anxiety every day. Depression from being anxious, and anxious about being depressed. Self medicating with booze, and anything else I thought might help. My Therapist suggested I try floating. And I have never been the same since. A sense of peace and calm that I can honestly say I have never experienced before floating."
