Does this sound familiar?
You have done the appointments. You still do not feel like yourself.
You may have seen specialists, changed your diet, read everything you can find. Some of it helped a little. And you may have noticed the same problems finding their way back.
- Tiredness that a night of sleep does not fix
- Test results that come back normal while you still feel unwell
- Digestion, pain or sleep that flare when life gets stressful
- A long list of things you have tried, each helping for a while
- Quiet worry about what this means for the years ahead
If that sounds familiar, it does not mean you have failed, or that it is all in your head. Often it means the pieces of your health have been looked at one at a time.
A different way to see it
Why fixing one piece at a time can stall
Your body does not work in separate compartments. Your nervous system sets the tone for sleep, digestion, energy and how your body handles pain. When the stress response stays switched on for months or years, the body leans toward protection rather than repair, and even good changes can struggle to hold.
It is difficult to make lasting change when your nervous system is in a threatened state.
Functional health coaching looks for the patterns that connect your symptoms, and it starts with your nervous system, so the changes you make to food, sleep and movement have a better chance to last.
How functional health coaching works
Regulate. Integrate. Optimize.
Each session is 45 minutes, at our Bettendorf clinic or online. The work follows the three principles behind everything at Integrated Functional Health.
-
01
Regulate
Start by easing the load on your nervous system, with practical ways to settle stress and support sleep, so your body feels safe enough to rest and repair.
-
02
Integrate
Help the different parts of your brain work together for better function across mind and body, so what you know you need and what you actually do start to line up.
-
03
Optimize
Build nutrition, movement, sleep and recovery habits around your real life, and adjust the plan as you learn what helps you most.

Who it is for
Is functional health coaching right for you?
A good fit
- You have an ongoing health concern that has not resolved the way you hoped
- You want to understand why, not only manage symptoms
- You are ready to make changes, one step at a time
- You would like to meet at our Bettendorf clinic or online
Probably not the right fit if
- You have new, severe or quickly worsening symptoms. See your doctor first, or call 911 in an emergency.
- You are looking for a diagnosis, a prescription or a replacement for your medical care
Functional health coaching works alongside your doctor. Keep taking any medication as prescribed, and talk with your prescriber before changing it.

Your coach
Matt DeWild, RN
Matt is a registered nurse, massage therapist, internationally board certified hypnotist and hypnosis instructor, with over 30 years of experience in healthcare, from emergency rooms, trauma centers and flight nursing to mental health and addictions. His training spans traditional Western medicine and natural, holistic approaches, and he has studied with teachers from around the world. He has taught many classes and programs to people in many different professions, and he is a featured speaker at conferences and for groups and organizations on a variety of brain based topics. He founded the practice in 2010 and is an owner of Integrated Functional Health, which he runs with his wife, Molly Hinke-DeWild, LISW, in Bettendorf, Iowa. Matt takes a holistic approach, seeing each client as a whole person rather than a collection of separate parts.
In functional health coaching, Matt brings those three decades of care and his focus on the nervous system together, to help you see how the pieces of your health connect and to build a plan you can keep. As your coach, he does not diagnose or prescribe, and he is glad to work alongside the doctors you already see. Functional health coaching is the foundation of his longevity work, which is where his services come together as one plan for the years ahead.

Questions
Questions about functional health coaching
What is functional health coaching?
Functional health coaching looks at your health as one connected system. Instead of focusing on a single symptom, it looks at how stress, sleep, nutrition, movement and the nervous system affect each other, then builds a practical plan with you. It is education and coaching, not medical diagnosis or treatment.
How is this different from seeing my doctor?
Your doctor diagnoses and treats medical conditions, and functional health coaching does not replace that. It works alongside your medical care, with time to look at the whole picture and to support the daily changes that shape your health. Keep your doctor informed, and talk with your prescriber before changing any medication.
What kinds of health concerns do people bring?
People often come with concerns that have lingered, such as ongoing tiredness, poor sleep, digestive trouble, pain, or stress that seems to show up in the body. On your free consult, Matt will talk through whether coaching suits your situation, or whether another kind of care should come first.
Can I do functional health coaching online?
Yes. Sessions are available at our clinic in Bettendorf, Iowa, or online through a secure telehealth platform, wherever you live in the United States. Your free consult can be either.
How long are sessions, and how often do we meet?
Sessions are 45 minutes, in person or online. How often you meet, and for how long, is decided together, based on your goals and what your plan needs.
What happens on the free consult?
It is a 30 minute conversation with Matt, at the clinic or by telehealth. You talk about your health, what you have already tried and what you would like to change, and together you decide whether functional health coaching is the right next step. There is no cost and no obligation.
How much does it cost, and do you take insurance?
Coaching sessions with Matt are $150 each, and the free consult costs nothing. Coaching is paid directly. Our insurance arrangements cover therapy only.
