GLP-1 medication
Semaglutide
Quiet the food noise, and build habits that last.
- A small injection under the skin, once a week
Medical Weight Loss
GLP-1 medication can quiet the constant pull of food. Brain based coaching changes the patterns underneath, so the weight you lose stays lost. Independent licensed providers handle the medicine. Matt DeWild, RN, and our programs handle everything that makes it last.

Does this sound familiar?
If weight has been a long fight, the problem was never a lack of willpower. Hunger, cravings and the drive to eat are run by powerful signals in the brain and gut.
GLP-1 medicines work on those signals directly. Used well, they can make change feel possible again. Used alone, the research shows the weight usually comes back. We do it the other way.
Your options
Each page explains how the medicine works, what the research shows, who it suits and what to expect. Your independent licensed provider decides what is right for you.

GLP-1 medication

A weekly anchor for energy, routine and the habits that count.
A different way to see it
GLP-1 medicines act on the parts of the brain that drive hunger and reward. That is their power, and it is exactly why they work best alongside brain based change. When the noise quiets, there is space to build new patterns: how you respond to stress, how you eat when you are tired, what you reach for when a day goes wrong.
There is a second job too. When weight comes off quickly, part of it can be muscle, and muscle is what keeps your metabolism strong. Protein at every meal and regular strength training protect it, and they are built into every plan from the first week.
It is difficult to make lasting change when your nervous system is in a threatened state.

Regulate. Integrate. Optimize.
Medication is one part. The plan around it follows the three principles behind everything at Integrated Functional Health.
Settle the stress response and protect sleep, so your body feels safe enough to let go of weight rather than hold on to it.
Help the different parts of your brain work together, so the choices you plan are the choices you make, even on hard days.
Build protein, strength, movement and recovery habits that protect your muscle and keep the result for the long run.
What your plan can include
Choose what fits. Matt will help you put the right pieces together on your consultation.

Semaglutide and tirzepatide are the active ingredients in FDA approved medicines. Compounded versions, prepared by a licensed pharmacy for an individual patient, are not FDA approved and have not been reviewed by the FDA for safety, effectiveness or quality. No. Medication is one option, never a requirement. Our weight loss coaching and the online X360 Weight Loss program work with or without it. Many people start with coaching and decide on medication later, or not at all.
Research on GLP-1 medicines shows that most people regain much of the weight when they stop, unless their habits have changed. That is why coaching starts in week one: protein, strength training, sleep, stress and the patterns behind eating. The habits you build are what you keep.
The consultation with Matt is available in Bettendorf or by telehealth anywhere. The health history is completed online, and medication can be shipped to most states. Matt will confirm availability for your state on the consultation.
